"Pan-Africanism inspired the idea that none is independent if even
one is not independent."
Francis Gatare,
President, African School of Governance
THE CREATORS
A cohort of 38 pan-African creators arrived three days early. They moved through Kigali in a deliberate
sequence, from the Kigali Genocide Memorial to BK Arena and Zaria Court, and then spent a day in
the ASG classroom, in a session on storytelling in the governance context.
On the first day of the forum, they entered the room as participants rather than as a press pool, with full
agency over the subject matter, ready to voice their contributions.
The creators paid tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide
against the Tutsi at the Kigali Genocide Memorial.
A visit to the BK Sports Arena was part of the creators’ Kigali
itinerary.
Before the Forum, the creators spent a day at ASG, joined by H.E. Monica Geingos, former First Lady of Namibia, and Francis Gatare,
President of ASG.
