Foreword
Francis Gatare
ASG President,
Dear partners and friends of ASG,
We spent the third quarter of the year
implementing several initiatives that had
been in the making.
Our Master of Public Administration
(MPA) students completed their time in
the field, in several institutions within
Rwanda and a few elsewhere in Africa,
where they carried out their Work
Integrated Learning (WIL). The purpose of
this learning period is for students to
experience, firsthand, how governance is
practically
done,
exercise
their
problem-solving skills and integrate
themselves into the places of work.
We also received 65 new students from
15 African countries, who have joined the
second cohort of the MPA and have since
started their leadership journey at ASG.
The Executive Master of Leadership and
Governance (EMLG) officially launched
and
onboarded
104
students,
representing 16 African countries.

And finally, our Executive Education
programme graduated 51 participants,
both emerging leaders and those already
in leadership positions. They came
through two programmes.
Under
the
same
programme,
together with the African Union, UNDP
and the African Women Leaders Network,
we launched the African Academy for
Women in Political Leadership. Its first
cohort of 40 sitting women political
leaders from 28 countries across Africa
and the Caribbean will graduate this
October.
Beyond our programmes, we bring
together policymakers to discuss Africa's
solutions and future through convenings.
Our inaugural convening, the Africa
Mindset Reset Forum, brought together
more than 2,700 leaders from 80
countries, with over 67,000 following live
online.
I hope this newsletter gives you a sense
of what we did in the third quarter, and of
the Africa we are working toward.
